How do delivery services work?
Grocery and goods delivery is a popular option for busy families, seniors, and anyone who prefers not to make a physical trip to the store.
Delivery services make transactions safe and easy, allowing customers to obtain the products or meals they need. Items can be delivered to homes, offices, or other locations.
Food delivery allows customers to order take-out meals or items without having to make a physical trip to the restaurant. Food arrives boxed up, usually accompanied by napkins, utensils, and necessary condiments.
There can also be contactless delivery in which the entire transaction takes place online, and the delivery person leaves the item(s) on the customer’s doorstep upon arrival. Customers pay an in-app fee for the delivery, and then are expected to tip the driver in-app as well.
Why is it important?
From new parents to those not wanting to leave their couch, to those with compromised immune systems, and everyone in between, delivery service allows for customer freedom and flexibility.
How do I start?
Begin by reviewing the terms and conditions of each service. If you’re a restaurant, start with those services that cater to food delivery like Tock to Go, Bite Squad, GrubHub, DoorDash and Caviar. Then register your business with the delivery service(s) of your choosing.
Keep in mind...
Many of these services may take a high percentage of your sales (up to 30-40% in some cases).
Tock to Go is a new service which provides a flat fee and very low service fees as an alternative to more expensive services.
